For more than a quarter of a century, the Athens-to-Atlanta Road Skate continues to rank as THE premier distance skating event in the U.S. On October 5, 2008, more than 300 inline skaters from 41 states and 12 countries will do it again – skating on nearly 90 miles of roadway in the most famous road skate in America. This three-day event features a Friday night social skate on the streets of downtown Atlanta followed by Saturday registration and a choice of four featured events on Sunday: the 87-mile ultra marathon from Athens, Ga. to Atlanta’s Piedmont Park; the 52-mile double marathon from Dacula, Ga. to Piedmont Park in Atlanta, and the challenging 38-mile skate from Athens, Ga. to Dacula, Ga.
